This week I reviewed Michaele Sommerville's blog, Kindergarten's 3 R's. This current Kindergarten teacher's site has some great pictures, ideas and links. Ms. Sommerville teaches in Kansas!
Classroom Photos
I enjoyed looking at Ms. Sommerville's Kindergarten classroom. Her classroom is well organized and I like the use of graphics on the wall that are functional but not overly cluttered. You can see the photos here, see more ideas here, and take a look at her Pinterest here.
I like the tables (with storage) in a circle and a center table to focus attention. There is adjacent carpet space for story time or exploration. Ms. Sommerville's desk is well placed and student centered. There is also additional space and tables for a variety of stations and activities.
Great ideas and resources
Ms. Sommerville has her own blogposts, and a list of links to a variety of subjects. Some of the ones I checked were Response to Intervention, PE and Storytime. She links to some great STEM sites (think NASA and the Smithsonian). She also has great ideas of her own...and they are for sale! You can browse her idea her at Teachers Pay Teachers. Thanks Ms. Sommerville!
